Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker are announcing a tuition-free college system.
The Democratic mayor on Tuesday and the Republican governor were establishing the brand new college affordability system for Boston senior high school graduates, enabling low-income individuals to perform four-year levels without paying tuition or mandatory fees.
The Boston Bridge program is going to be available to all 2017 high school graduates who live in the town.
The town as well as the state say they’ll protect students’ tuition and fees. Federal Pell grants will be taken by them into account.
Baker says college affordability “too often serves as a screen” for students seeking degrees. He says the newest method is supposed to offer “more opportunities for a quality education.”
