For quite a while, I was in entire opposition of budgeting.
That didn’t work out nicely for me as it is possible to imagine. Especially as my responsibilities and financial obligations increased.
I attempted to do online applications like Mint to keep track of everything. But they just didn’t work for me. A binder provides a home to so lots of matters that will otherwise clutter my space gift cards, like receipts, coupons, and so on.
So I’m going with what I find works for me and to go into my own personal development of one. If you’re looking for good online programs for budgeting, I include one at the end, so you can skip down there if you don’t care for the binder idea!
I got my inspiration from several blogs, and I will try to give credit where credit is due.
Decorate It and Make It Happy
Because lots of folks indicated should, I began with a 1 ½ binder. It ended up working great.
Like a lot of the bloggers, I also made mine nice to look at. I mean if I’m dealing with an incredibly annoying subject I at least want it to look nice.
I place pictures of my wonderful family across the cover and puppies on the interior (cause, duh, they’re adorable). Tough to be mad when you see a few puppies and your adorable children.
Pockets And Pouches Are Wonderful
I’ve adored the vinyl binder pouch thought from acultivatednest.com. Before, I was just stuffing my receipts in the pockets and they would fall out and stuff (annoying!). This binder pocket keeps my receipts organized. In addition, I like keeping my pencils and pens in a pouch.

In addition, I use this card holder sheet to hold credit cards and gift cards that I don’t use often. This lessens the burden on my wallet (I’ve ripped a lot of them because of this), and when we plan to go out, we simply turn to our sheet to see where we can save money! I love how this functions.
And then, of course, I use these sheets (and page sheets) for coupon organization. I’m not a huge coupon-champion yet… And this has been an efficient means for me to organize everything to get started.

Take Into Consideration Your Financial Plan As A Whole
Budgeting apps helped me break this down. It just highlighted everything I spend money on that I’m not always aware of.
For me it came down to:
• Food—This is a large one.
• Gas—Soccer practices and work can actually empty this one.
• Energy bills—I’ve cut done a lot on this one. Check out my blog post on energy savings!
• Bills—This is my catch all for bills…whether they’re telephone, medical, mortgage, etc. Energy has its very own compartment because I’m genuinely interested in energy efficiency.
• Amusement—Cause all of us need just a little fn.
• Savings— Put away for a rainy day if you can.
• Short and Long Term Investments —and don’t forget yearly investments including pest management.
After you’ve accounted for all you must consider, determine how you would like to arrange your binder. You need to use page separators, tabs, or anything you enjoy.
I use this wonderful front page from amomstake.com (free fonts!) to help me organize.

I really like this meal plan coordinator thought from Mama Whimsy. You additionally don’t need to print off a lot, AND you also will absolutely make simple changes if forgot to pick up something at the supermarket.
Simply use sticky notes and plan your meals out including what you should create the meals on each one. I use another page to keep an eye on budgeting for supermarket shopping.
